Purpose of the Job

  • Responsible for the monitoring and recoding off all plant stoppages via the IPST/Incident management system.
  • Compiling, reporting and distribution of daily “Line stoppage report”.
  • Co-ordinate and follow-up on line stoppages.
  • Allocate and record responsible Cost centre for plant stoppages.
  • Make recommendations and support the development of IPST-system.
  • Monitor and track continuous volume output against required target. 
  • Monitor plant buffers and escalate requirement for emergency supply.
  • Administer and co-ordinate booking changes on request

 

Key Responsibilities

Recording of all line stoppages:

  • Monitor the IPS-T system and record all line stoppages.
  • Monitor and record all drifting on the line due to “Parts shortages” or “parts quality” problems.
  • Advice responsible Process Supporter, Leader/Production Engineer or Maintenance personnel of relevant line stoppage.
  • Confirm and record reasons for stoppages and responsible parties.
  • Record all stoppages < 60 seconds cumulatively and > 60 seconds in detail.

 

Co-ordinate and follow-up on line stoppages.

  • Co-ordinate time and effect of a stoppage on one line with regards to the other lines.
  • Monitor the balance in the line buffers.
  • Ensure and advice all relevant parties with regards to a line stoppage to ensure immediate response.
  • Confirm reasons and responsibility with regards to the relevant stoppage.
  • Monitor and follow-up on drifting on the line due to “part shortages”.

 

Allocate relevant responsible Cost centre to all line stoppages and “parts drifting”:

  • Ensure the correct allocation of responsible cost centres to relevant stoppages or line drifting by continuous contact and communication with relevant Process Supporter, Leader/Production Engineer or Maintenance personnel.
  • Follow-up on open investigations with regards to reasons for line stoppages.

 

Compile and distribute daily shift report:

  • Record all line stoppages in relevant IPS-T system or Assembly Daily Shift Report data base.
  • Record all drifting due to “parts shortage” or “parts quality” problems in the relevant data base.
  • Ensure the accuracy of bookings with regards to:
    • Time of stoppage.
    • Duration.
    • Location.
    • Reason for stoppage.
  • Responsible area.
    • Relevant OEE – category.
  • Influence of line area (Direct or indirect stoppage).
  • Finalise and distribute the Shift report after each shift (Publish on Intranet).
  • Daily, update agreed changes of booking in the relevant data base.
  • Compile weekly and monthly volume loss and management reports.

 

Track the actual volume output against the required volume target.

  • Monitor and track the continuous volume out put against the required target (SIV).
  • Advice and notify all relevant parties with regards to discrepancies.
  • Advice relevant management inline with the relevant escalation process.

 

Monitoring of plant supply buffers.

  • Monitor the various buffers in the TMO production system.
  • As per agreed conditions, notify the relevant departments with regards to the status of the buffer and requirement for emergency supply.
  • Monitor emergency supply situation until the supply buffer is full. Advice relevant people accordingly.

 

Support and development of the IPS-T system:

  • Make recommendations with regards to the development of the IPS-T system.
  • Support the development of a daily shift report via the IPS-T system.
  • Investigate and initiate potential improvement and development of daily, weekly and monthly management reports.

  • Initiates other tasks as directed to ensure department goals are met
  • Supports health, safety and environment requirements.
  • Keeps up to date on latest technology related to relevant processes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Production / Engineering or equivalent

 

Work and Leadership Experience:

Leadership qualifications/experience would be an advantage.

  • Substantial knowledge of Production and/or Logistics processes and system enhancements
  • Good communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills are required.
  • MS Office experience required.
  • Knows the Production and/or Physical logistics organisation and the area leaders.
  • Knows escalation process to leadership.
