Description

The Production Control Department is responsible for steering Plant Spartanburg’s production volume on a long term, short term & daily level, while maintaining an optimized production system.

The department is integrated into all aspects of BMW’s manufacturing strategies.

 

  • The Production Control Department is responsible for steering Plant Spartanburg’s production volume on a long term, short term & daily level, while maintaining an optimized production system.  The department is integrated into all aspects of BMW’s manufacturing strategies.

 

The Production Control department is divided into these main areas:

  • Supports the strategic volume planning & reports to Senior Management. Implementation of plant business strategy into a manufacturing plan.
  • Order Planning: sequences customer orders by adhering to assembly & supplier restrictions. Drives the master production sequence for the plant.
  • Program Planning: Develops production strategy (volume plan, shift model, production calendar) short term to long term.
  • Vehicle Control: manages the vehicle sequence throughout the plant to ensure on-time delivery of orders to our customers.

 

The qualified intern should be expected to:
 

  • Identify, lead & support continuous improvement projects within the department.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-departmental improvement projects, collaborating with diverse technologies such as Assembly, Body-Shop, Paint-Shop, HR, Finance, and IT.
  • Develop and refine data analysis tools to optimize process management and streamline daily reporting methods.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of business operations, production systems, and supply chain intricacies of a large automotive manufacturing facility.
  • Generate and present insightful Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to inform and guide Plant management decisions.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Pursuing a degree in Project Management, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Logistics, Management, Engineering, Finance, Data analytics.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have enrolled status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to complete 3 work terms for co-op positions. 
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. 
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term. 
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE (January 13th – May 16th, 2025)
