Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Three UK plants have a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint and final assembly.

 

 

MINI Plant, Oxford – Automotive Test & Analysis Engineering - 13 Month Placement (July 2025)

We have 3 placements available within our Vehicle Validation teams at MINI Plant Oxford.

Our available roles sit within:

  • Product Validation.
  • Geometric Validation.
  • Vehicle Validation, Electronics & Automated Driving.

These positions are situated within departments that are responsible for ensuring the premium quality of our Pre-series vehicles and Series vehicles. These departments have the responsibility in Oxford for all pre-series and series validation for the Process Chain with the task of ensuring that the product and customer functions are ready to launch into the market. We handle early problem detection, preventing potential failures in internal and external metrics audit, durability testing, warranty and delivery quality both in terms of cases and costs to business. We are also responsible for the geometric and functional integration of new products during the development phase up until three months after Start Of Production (SOP). Within the team, our specialists support complex analysis topics across the complete vehicle with their extensive measurement capabilities.

 

What awaits you could include:

  • Involvement in live product builds, get hands-on in our technical workshops and master the basics of CATIA V5 to perform detailed virtual analysis of Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages.
  • Supporting the pre-work, daily activities, documenting output during the pre-series development of a new product.
  • Supporting the quality specialists with root cause analysis and validation activities on prototype vehicles prior to launch.
  • Involvement with our VR system for use in quality analysis problems, involvement in current and future production topics, support development of new functionality in VR software, grow the use of VR across Plant Oxford and aid in the training of new users.
  • Preparation of vehicles for testing which could include: pre-checks, updates both hardware/software, vehicle collection and returning of post evaluation.
  • Vehicle customer functionality static and dynamic evaluations and supporting in development of customer protections and potential solutions.
  • Supporting analysis of problems identified and evaluation/testing of decided solutions.
  • Vehicle diagnostics and data analysis encompassing the vehicle connectivity.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Studying a Bachelor’s or integrated Master’s degree and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in an Engineering course, ideally Mechanical Engineering/Automotive/ Electrical Engineering.
  • A valid UK driving license is essential for this role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong relationship building skills.
  • Previous Computer Aided Design (CAD) knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Strong PC skills and experienced with Microsoft Office.
  • Relevant work experience would be beneficial.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, and ability to show high attention to detail to every task.
  • Ability to adapt working approach depending on specific requirements, prioritise activities, work under pressure, multi-task and solve problems.
  • An excellent team player who possesses solid organisational skills.
