Manager: Occupational Health

Description

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development, implementation and steering of local concepts, processes, systems and tools for health management for all BMW entities in South Africa based on the requirements of the served entities, aligned with the BMW Group wide framework provided by the governance functions and compliant with all local legal regulations.
  • Responsible for local implementation and steering of BMW Group wide policies, concepts, processes, systems and tools for health management.
  • Responsible for operational planning and steering of execution of health management and measures for the supported entities.
  • Responsible for meeting all legal, compliance and regulatory requirements for health management related topics incl. consultancy and enabling of the management about liabilities of the company.
  • Responsible for advising and enabling of all disciplinary leaders of the served entities to fulfil employer‘s obligations regarding occupational safety and health management, compliant with all local legal regulations.

 

Tasks

Ensure provision if an integrated health service:

  • Derive, implement and manage an occupational health programme, EAP offering, biokinetic programme and incident management system.
  • Execute the rehabilitation prescription.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress.
  • Manage for continuous improvement.
  • Support global, and manage national campaigns and projects.
  • Plan and administer budget.
  • Develop a holistic health management strategy in line with BMW Group strategy which is client-centric and contributes to the success of local business.
  • Participate and contribute to all strategic activities within the local P-Ressort.
  • Steer service provider contracts.
  • Manage the day-today function and the long-term performance of associates in the department.
  • Strategic document design and maintenance of standards and processes in line with legislation, regulations, BMW Group VAs.
  • Establish and maintain a cohesive and holistic wellness offering.
  • Ensure business participation and collaboration with regards to health topics.
  • Build a supportive and collaborative working environment within the Health Management team.
  • Monitor, appraise and report on wellness data.
  • Ensure retention of patient records within the legal and BMW prescript.
  • Ensure a wellness calendar is established and that regular health / wellness activations and communications occur within the business.
  • Ensure legal compliance with regards to medication management, practitioner registration, dispensing licensing, Health Professions Council as a training facility, practice registration.
  • Accountable for the biokinetic and rehabilitation service.
  • Ensure facility and building management for utility modifications, equipment installations, repairs, etc.
  • Monitor the performance of service providers and steer non-compliance; whilst ensuring effectiveness of the corrective actions and documenting same.
  • Clinical duties as required within the execution of the role.

 

Qualifications

  • MBChB
  • MMed in Occupational Medicine and / or Fellowship of the Colleges of Medicine
  • Management qualification advantageous
  • Diploma in Primary Emergency Care advantageous.
  • Current ACLS certification.

 

Competencies / Experience

  • 10+ years experience as a medical practitioner.
  • Experience as an Occupational Medicine Practitioner, preferably within the automotive manufacturing industry.
  • 5+ years management / leadership experience.
  • Experience in wellness with a thorough understanding of holistic wellness.
  • Experience in wellness events coordination.
  • Project management experience.
  • Seasoned people leadership skills.
  • High acumen in dealing with diverse stakeholders.
