Description
The Environmental intern is responsible for supporting the Environmental Management team in achieving key department objectives (continual improvement of the Environmental Management System, on-time and accurate environmental compliance reporting, environmental outreach, development and implementation of sustainability projects, training, and communication).
The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and calculations for environmental compliance reports.
- Assist with Environmental Management System topics (documentation updates, auditing, continual improvement.)
- Participate in environmental audits and inspections and maintain documentation; input audit information in the BMW Group Audit Management tool.
- Develop and publish environmental news articles/ newsletters to Environmental Intranet site.
- Administer data in Environmental Compliance Reporting software.
- Coordinate and assist in development of environmental training courses.
- Maintain Environmental intranet site and communication.
- Support sustainability projects (research, development, coordination.)
Projects:
- Review and update environmental plans and regulatory documents.
- Develop environmental training courses.
- Analyze data and complete calculations for environmental compliance reports.
- Assist with research and development of environmental sustainability projects to support BMW Group Sustainability Strategy.
- Assist with development and implementation of biodiversity projects.
- Develop and maintain digital dashboards for environmental metrics and data.
- Support specific projects related to environmental regulatory compliance and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System.
- Plan tours of department areas for BMW Gen>NEXT program.
- Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering degree.
- Microsoft Excel (experience with advanced functions (vlookup, macros, etc.) preferred.)
- Basic knowledge of US federal environmental regulations (CAA, CWA, RCRA, etc.)
- Detail-oriented and strong organization skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated team member who can work well independently and in teams.
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major.)
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
