Level 2 Interior Surface Centre (Wood) Apprentice - Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Description

Interior Surface Centre (Wood) Apprentice

Level: 2

Company: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Starting Salary: £18,900

Programme duration: 2 years. Commencing August 2025

Hours: 40 per week. Start and finish times will vary to meet the needs of your work-based placements and college.

Location: Goodwood, West Sussex

The Role

We produce world class interiors using a variety of materials and finishes including wood and carbon fibre. The department combines craft with technology to create interiors to exacting standards.

Our apprentices are given a sense of responsibility from the outset. You will quickly become acclimatized to the production environment and develop skills that will last a lifetime.

We will treat you as part of the team from day one and encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table.

In this role you will…

  • Work in all areas of the Interior Surface Centre to develop the core skills to manufacture our world-class interiors.
  • Work closely with our highly experienced production staff and support teams.
  • Work on exciting new and existing Rolls-Royce products.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will complete EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) at Chichester College. The apprenticeship will entail time working at the plant in addition to college. One day is spent studying ‘Lean Manufacturing Theory’, one day learning woodwork skills, and the remainder is on site at Goodwood. When at Goodwood, you will shadow colleagues in different parts of the interior surface centre.

Craft Skills

Car design and creation at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is like nothing else in the industry. The apprenticeship features a unique opportunity to get hands on experience of all aspects of car design and creation. You will spend 2 days per week (in the first term) completing a ‘craft skills’ course which includes woodwork, sewing, mechanics, metal work and CAD. During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications: Health and Safety, Preparing to Learn, Reflective Practice, and Electrical Vehicle Awareness.

Who are we looking for?

You will be supervised in creating beautiful pieces to be installed in a Rolls-Royce Motor Car. The ability to work on your own, whilst contributing to the work of a team is important. All projects can take 3-4 weeks to complete.

An interest in making things (from anything) is valuable. Previous woodwork experience is useful but not essential. The following skills and qualities are also important for this role:

  • Reliable
  • Self-driven
  • Problem-solving.
  • Basic IT skills
  • Curious
  • Creative

You will learn all you need to do this role at college and in the workplace. For this reason, you do not need a qualification, or experience to apply. An interest in the profession or making things is strongly advised.

Required Qualifications

English and Maths GCSE at grade 4 is required but not essential. It is advised that this is attained prior to starting the apprenticeship but can be completed alongside work and study in the form of ‘functional skills’.
