As Head of Customs at BMW Group Plant Debrecen you're a crucial part of our vision to revolutionize the way we think about cars.
What awaits you?
- Steering processes and work with local authorities and internal stakeholders, in order to harmonize Customs Management policies with Hungarian legal regulations.
- Managing the Customs Team’s operational tasks and external service providers, coordination of topics in the scope of the department and managing various customs license applications.
- Observing and analyzing legal procedures or cases and the resulting customs consequences for BMW Plant Debrecen. Initiate change processes within the BMW Group according to legislation changes. Spearhead customs trade innovation initiatives, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Ensuring the legally compliant and timely submission of customs and tax declarations as well as the legally required goods-related foreign trade statistics concerning BMW Plant Debrecen. Analyze Big Data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in customs operations.
- Making a difference in a globally active team with the perspective of developing both professionally and personally. Mentoring and guiding young professionals, leveraging their fresh perspectives and energy.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with university partners to facilitate student internships and research collaborations.
What should you bring along?
- 5-10 years of experience working in the Customs field – working in the private sector (e.g. in multinational environment or at a customs brokerage company) is an advantage.
- Professional Customs Expert Qualification recognized by the Hungarian or other EU Member States' customs authorities ('VÁMÜGYI SZAKÉRTŐI HATÓSÁGI KÉPZÉS') is needed; University degree in Economics, Trade or similar qualification is required.
- Profound knowledge of the European Union Customs Code and Customs Procedures and knowledge in Intrastat-, Environmental Protection Product Fee-, Extended Producer Responsibility-, CBAM reporting is an advantage.
- Experience in executing customs clearances in a standard Hungarian Customs Software and SAP GTS knowledge is an advantage.
- Ability to present complex topics across hierarchies in a simple and understandable way.
- Self-motivated with ability to take ownership and work autonomously.
- Passion for innovation and a willingness to challenge the status quo. Courage to bring forward your own ideas.
- Language skills: business fluent English and Hungarian, German would be a plus.
