BMW GROUP IN ARAQUARI.

5 years ago in 2014, BMW opened its car manufacturing plant in Araquari, Brazil. Today the production in Araquari, Santa Catarina, is well-known for its flexibility in production lines, commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The factory has a production capacity of 32,000 vehicles per year and employs around 1,300 people directly while adding another 2,500 as their partners, suppliers, and dealers. Currently, the BMW 3 series, X1, X3 and X4 models are manufactured in Brazil.

Araquari is one of the biggest towns of northern Santa Catarina in Brazil. The state Santa Catarina in general has one of the best rankings in human and economic development of the whole country, whilst the largest industries in the world get a foothold due to the excellent infrastructure and growth opportunities.

Araquari’s ideal location of roads, docking ports for ships, airports and railways has led to a tremendous improvement of hospitals, schools, universities, housing, supermarkets and other regional benefits. The city, furthermore, benefits from its close location to Joinville, the largest town in Santa Catarina, and Barra Velha, which is a very popular tourist town surrounded by incredible beaches and excellent quality of life. In addition to BMW and MINI automobile manufactures, the region encompasses factories such as Chevrolet, Hyosung, Tiger, Whirlpool, Cebrace, Tupy, Schulz, and over 57,000 more industries within the state.

October 2012
BMW Group Brazil officially announced the construction of today’s plant Araquari

May 2013
Start of soil and terrain preparations – a total area of 500,000 m² and movement of over 2 million m³ of soil to make this plant happen.

September 2014
Official inauguration of plant Araquari – the first car, BMW 3 series, is produced. A historic moment!

November 2014
Start of the X1 production. Later, the BMW X3 and X4 followed and are now also produced in Araquari.

2017
Plant Araquari celebrates its 10,000 exports of the BMW X1 to countries within the NAFTA agreement which embraces global trade without borders.
