October is Black History Month in the UK, a month-long celebration of Black history, culture, and heritage. First celebrated in 1987, Black History Month is an important time to raise awareness about Black cultures and identities – cultures and identities shared by many within our organisation as well.

BMW Group is a proud supporter of Black History Month, and along with the rest of the nation we are celebrating the accomplishments of Black people who have enriched British society – in history and contemporary times.

For our internal colleagues, we have planned several activities during Black History Month to support colleagues who celebrate Black History Month and to encourage allies to learn more about the experiences of people within the Black Community.  Among our month-long celebration, we will also host special events including:

• A Windrush Generation Exhibition, in partnership with Kensington and Chelsea Council and the Westminster City Council.
• A talk with guest speaker Patrick Vernon OBE, a British social commentator and political activist of Jamaican heritage. Patrick will be discussing the theme for Black History Month 2022, " Time for Change: Action not words".
