After completing my degree in business management, I joined the graduate scheme in 2018 and I’m now a production specialist within Logistics at Hams Hall. During my time on the scheme I rotated around various departments and functions within the business, including Assembly which was arranged to help set me up for the role I wanted to go into after I finished the graduate scheme.

One of the best experiences was my four-month placement in Germany. I worked with the Central team in Munich, and travelled to other sites in Dingolfing and Steyr, in Austria. The placement gave me a brilliant insight into how all the BMW Group sites are interconnected, and well as the chance to develop my German. I was there at the same time as lots of the graduates from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Goodwood, so it was great to develop friendships with them and learn what each of them were working on too. I still call upon some of those people I met to this day.

The biggest thing that’s helped me to develop is the level of autonomy I have. I can go off and speak to people, travel and build my career in line with the business needs. Having senior mentors within the business and getting their career advice and thoughts on topics is also really valuable. I was able to identify someone I wanted to work with and asked them if they’d mind being my mentor – no one said no to me!

I knew joining BMW Group was a great start point and working here would give me great momentum for my career but it’s exceeded expectations. Stepping out of uni and driving a brand new BMW was also a great perk!
