I always believed that MINI would allow great opportunities for career growth – it’s a big company and so there’s a diverse community to learn from. MINI also stood out to me as the company’s goal is to be constantly reducing the impact that they have on the environment and this aligned with my own morals.
As a placement student in the Physical Logistics department, my role was to maintain the contracts that we have in place with our logistic service providers and monitor their performance. One of the standout moments for me was leading a project to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our invoice reporting. I converted a manual process into a fully automated one, which saved the team a lot of time, and I felt really encouraged by the difference I made. I presented my work to the department leaders, as well as the Swindon Plant who implemented my process too.
The learning and development opportunities at BMW Group are brilliant, and I had access to some great online courses to earn more qualifications which complemented my university studies. I was also able to develop my soft skills such as confidence in public speaking. Feedback from my supervisor was also constructive. He gave me plenty of advice that I will take forward into my next role.
From day one, I was given meaningful projects and I instantly felt the impact I was making on the business. I had the chance to contribute to lots of large-scale projects and my opinions were really listened to.
