Zacharias has been part of the BMW team for several years. His career at the BMW Group began as a temporary employee before he was taken on as a permanent employee after about a year. Today, he works as an HR Specialist in temporary employment support and gives us exciting insights into his experiences.
ZACHARIAS, WHAT WAS YOUR PATH AT THE BMW GROUP LIKE?
"I worked for a personnel service provider and so already had some contact with the BMW Group as an employer. This later led me to the temporary employment support department, the HR department for this specific target group at BMW. After about a year, I was offered a permanent position."
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DOES EMPLOYMENT AS A TEMPORARY WORKER OFFER?
"Temporary work offers many people the chance of an attractive employment at BMW. The aim is always to use temporary labour in an appropriate relationship to the core workforce. Our temporary workers, like other colleagues at BMW, benefit from attractive working and employment conditions. AS AN HR SPECIALIST, YOU ACCOMPANY THE ENTRY OF OUR COLLEAGUES INTO TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN IN MORE SPECIFIC TERMS?
"The personnel service providers refer potential suitable candidates to the BMW Group, with whom our Hiring Managers in the different specialist departments then conduct interviews. If there is a match, we take care of the recruitment process – from administrative issues to answering questions from candidates and departments to coordinating with the works council, we make sure that our temporary colleagues have a good start within BMW."
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF TEMPORARY WORKERS BEING TAKEN ON?
"The figures show that many temporary workers are taken on as permanent employees at the BMW Group: From the end of 2012 to 2022 alone, 15,000 colleagues were taken on as permanent employees. Taking on temporary employees is one of the most important recruiting channels for our company and is a good way to identify talent and open up long-term career paths for them."
